In 1965 the first seeds of the Concecrated Lay Canossians were sown. It started as Canossian Auxillary Workers with 6 members under Sr Natalia Tasca. It went through a lot of changes under different Spiritual Directresses – Sr Carmen Dengah, Sr Janet Wang and Sr Rosalia Yeo who is still the present Spiritual Directress. The Constitution was drafted and since then, the Consecrated Lay Canossians live their lives according to thet Constitution. After a period of 5 years formation, the members profess the Evangelical Counsels of Poverty, Chastity and Obedience. At present there are 7 members; 3 have taken their Final Vows while the others renew their temporary vows yearly. To support the psycho spiritual growth, members attend daily Eucharist, do Spiritual Reading and pray the divine office and rosary and every month they put aside a day for recollection and make an annual retreat of 5 to 7 days. To foster closer fraternity among members we have outings to places of interest and stay-ins together for a few days. All of us live with our families. We do our apostolic activities in the Canossian Convents and Church. Activities include prison ministry, ministry of the sick, RCIA, choir, sodality group members who pray for the dead. and comfort the mourners, parish office duty, helping in the Canossian Spirituality Centre and visiting the Canossian Home for the Aged. We have on-going formation, sharing and meeting monthly with the sister animator, Sr Rosalia Yeo. We participate in the 2 main feasts celebrated by the Canossian Institute; namely the feasts of St Magdalene and Our Lady of Sorrows. In unity with the Lay Canossian group, we join them in the social and spiritual activities organised by them. Joining this group is a response to God’s call. We feel happy and contented to be Consecrated Lay Canossians. We have grown spiritually, thanks to Sr Rosalia’s on-going formation. We will continue to grow with God’s grace to make Jesus known and loved.
